Business Enterprise Program

The Business Enterprise Program is part of Vocational Rehabilitation, and serves eligible Vocational Rehabilitation clients who are interested in becoming self-employed. Clients have to be eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation services, and have to be at least significantly disabled in order to receive financial assistance for their start-up venture.

Business Enterprise Program funding is comprised of commission payments from vending machine vendors that are paid to our Vending Program and a federal match. The Vending Program issues a bi-annual request for proposal for each vending site. Read more about the Vending Program.

The Business Enterprise Program's small business consultant will work with the Vocational Rehabilitation clients to create a business plan for their venture and provide technical assistance. The client's business plan will have to show that the business idea is feasible and that the client will be able to perform all tasks. During the business planning process, the small business consultant may refer the client to work with other resources such as the Market Research Center for detailed market research, Small Business Development Center to assist clients with other business training (such as Social Media Networking, for example), or the Wyoming Women's Business Center to work with clients on obtaining additional funding.

Previous Vocational Rehabilitation clients have established successful businesses in the following industries:

  • Crafts and Woodworking
  • Alternative Energy
  • Body Arts and Personal Care
  • Construction
  • Cleaning (Residential and Commercial)
  • Food Service
  • Music and Arts
