Cheyenne Workforce Center to Celebrate Summer Youth Graduates
CHEYENNE - The Department of Workforce Services' Cheyenne Workforce Center will be celebrating graduates of the 2010 Summer Youth Employment Program on Monday, August 30th at the Cheyenne Workforce Center, 1510 East Pershing Boulevard. The ceremony will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the South entrance, rooms 1141 and 1142.
Graduates who have participated in the Summer Youth Program, a part to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), have all completed at least one of the four components to the program: Work Readiness, Community Engagement, Life Skills and Work Experience. The program allows youth around the state to gain not only work experience, but valuable tools aimed at helping them grow professionally.
Joan Evans, Director for the Department of Workforce Services, is proud of the Summer Youth Program and the experiences it offers youth. "The Department of Workforce Services' Summer Youth Employment program incorporates a holistic approach. We offer youth age 14-24 that can meet eligibility requirements leadership skills, workforce readiness skills, community engagement and service, and a 400-hour work experience. Statewide, we had over 500 participants in our Summer Youth Program, and then adding on employers that participated, probably close to 600 people involved. We're thrilled with the results and the work experience that the kids were able to gain, as well as community experience and leadership skills, was a phenomenal opportunity." The program began May 1st and will continue through September 30th.
Members of the public are invited to attend and are asked to RSVP to 307-777-3700. For more information about the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, visit wyomingworkforce.org, call 877-WORK-WYO or find us on Facebook.
