Dads Making A Difference Program to Celebrate Graduates

CHEYENNE - The Dads Making a Difference Program for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services' Business Training and Outreach Division will be celebrating another graduating class of dads on Thursday, July 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the Cheyenne-Kiwanis Community House at 4603 Lions Park Drive. An open house will immediately follow.

The eight graduating dads have successfully completed the program in Commercial Truck Driving through Sage Technical Services and Heavy Equipment Operation through Wyoming Contractors Association.

Joan Evans, Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, said, "We are proud to have worked with our partners at Sage Trucking and at the Wyoming Contractors Association. Together, we have created a program that provides great opportunities for the participants."

Jeff White, Program Manager for the Dads Making a Difference program is proud of this year's participants. "We're very proud of the eight gentlemen who came into this year's class. They've worked extremely hard to successfully complete all of the requirements to obtain their commercial driver's license through Sage and of course, their certification in heavy equipment operating. They've had a rigorous course schedule and training and have overcome several obstacles to get to this point, and we just couldn't be more pleased."

The Dads Making a Difference Program was created to assist dads in achieving employment and in contributing to their child(ren)'s well-being. By participating, the dads can:

White added, "The Dads Making a Difference Program is two and half years old now and over the course of that time, we've been able to successfully help around 35 dads in Laramie County and in Rock Springs gain skills to become more employable and hopefully make a difference in the lives of their children and in their communities. We look forward to continuing to grow our program. We're currently looking to possibly expand in Casper this fall and we're really pleased about that possibility."
