Rawlins Workforce Center to Host Job Fairs in June
RAWLINS - The Rawlins Workforce Center will host two job fairs in June. The first Job Fair is set for June 11th and the second is set for June 18th at the Days Inn Business Conference Room at 2222 E. Cedar Street from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. n Rawlins.
Connie Summers, Rawlins Workforce Center Manager for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, said, "We have divided the Job Fairs up into two sessions to meet the needs of employers. Some of the employers are going to be hiring in late June/early July. The employers on the 18th are more likely to be hiring in late July/early August."
Positions that will be available at the job fair will be in the Oil Field, the Uranium Field, the Wyoming State Penitentiary will be interviewing for Correctional Officers. A couple hospitality businesses that will also be there, Summers added.
The Rawlins Workforce Center works diligently to offer services to Wyoming job seekers and businesses. With walk in traffic up 17.07% since January 2010, the staff has been busy assisting clients who need their help.
"Job seekers should bring a resume and cover letter to the job fairs if they would like and be ready to fill out an application," Summers said, "We will have some computers there if they're interested in applying right away for the state jobs (which is what the Wyoming State Penitentiary would be). If they're not bringing a resume, they should bring the information they will need to complete applications."
If job seekers would like assistant in preparing their resume and cover letters prior to the job fairs, they can visit the Rawlins Workforce Center and receive that assistance free of charge.
"I'd like for everyone to come out. I think it will be a great opportunity," Summers said.
In addition to working on these job fairs, the Rawlins Workforce Center has also been offering Gateway to Job Opportunities workshops where participants can increase the skills necessary to find job openings. The workshops include Writing an Effective Resume, Critical Interview Skills, Workplace Professionalism and Computer Basics Briefing.
