Free Workforce Preparedness Skills Workshops Offered
CHEYENNE - The Department of Workforce Services Cheyenne Workforce Center has teamed up with Laramie County Community College to offer local residents free Workforce Preparedness Skills Workshops. The workshops will be offered on Monday, August 24th, and Monday August 31st. September workshops are also being scheduled. All workshops are being held at Laramie County Community College Training Center in Room 103.
Offered workshops include writing an effective resume, critical interviewing skills, workplace professionalism and computer basics briefing. The workshops are designed to increase a job seeker's ability to outshine his or her competition in the job search process.
Joan Evans, Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, said, "With the influx of job seekers that we've seen in our centers since late last fall, this partnership is very critical to us because we are relying on the educational community to serve the needs of those clients. We hope that this effort can be replicated in other Community College areas in the state."
Phyllis Hime, Cheyenne Workforce Center Manager, encourages locals to take advantage of this free service. "We look forward to partnering with our community college in this venture. We know that, by past experience, we have a need and we are so excited to have this in place and we invite everyone to attend."
The Workshop Schedule for the August 24th session is:
- 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.: Writing an Effective Resume
- 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.: Critical Interviewing Skills
- 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Workplace Professionalism
- 2:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.: Computer Basics Briefing
