People with Special Needs Many Times Make Special Employees

CHEYENNE - The State Rehabilitation Council and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services want Wyoming businesses to know how these talented individuals can work for you.

Both agencies are co-hosting an informational presentation and session on special needs employees this Thursday at the Laramie County Library.

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation works with people with special needs in developing their skills to help them not only attain employment, but also to live independently.

Lisa Osvold is Deputy Director for the Department of Workforce Services. She says special needs workers often make loyal and productive employees.

“Many employers have stated that when they hire someone with a disability that employee, because they are so thankful to have a job, and that employer gave them to ability to work, that they will pay them (the employer) back ten-fold, and every day give them 120 percent,” Osvold said.

The State Rehabilitation Council is dedicated to ensuring people with disabilities throughout the state receive the services they need.

The information presentation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. this Thursday in the Sage Room of the Laramie County Library. For more information, contact Susan Hagan, the Executive Assistant to the State Rehabilitation Council at 307-777-7389, or by email at shagan@wyo.gov.
