Nominations Sought for 2012 Governor’s Safety Awards


CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Governor’s Safety Awards to be presented at the annual Wyoming Safety Conference. Wyoming OSHA, a division of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) will honor 10 outstanding Wyoming employers demonstrating a strong safety culture and excellence in safety and health programs.  The conference will be held on August 8 at the Best Western Ramkota (800 North Poplar Street) in Casper.

“Businesses in Wyoming are engaged in excellent safety initiatives and we should recognize and celebrate successes,” Governor Mead said. “State agencies and companies across Wyoming can learn about promoting a culture of safety from the award winners. Let us all continue our efforts to make Wyoming a safer place to work.”

“The recipients of the Governor’s Safety Awards influence safe work practices industry-wide and their important role as leaders will aid others in achieving stronger cultures of safety,” said Director of the Department of Workforce Services Joan Evans. “I strongly encourage thoughtful nominations for the 2012 Governor’s Safety Awards and look forward to congratulating these employers for their commitment to health and safety.”

 Employers with an outstanding safety and health program are encouraged to apply for an award in the fields of general industry, construction, oil and gas or mining in the following categories:

  • Mine Site Contractor: Large Employer
  • General Industry: Small Employer
  • Construction: Small Employer
  • Oil & Gas: Small Employer
